STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

BETTING DARGAVILLE. The Dargaville Racing Club will use the single pool in connection with betting at their races this week. Where there are five, six or seven starters two dividends will be paid, and where there are eight or more three dividends will be declared. FAILURE OF GAY MARIGOLD. Gay Marigold, after her showing at Takapuna, was strongly supported for the Rotorua Cup, but she failed to finish in a place. She was well up till the straight, but died right out towards the finish, it is evident that right-handed going docs not suit her as well as the other way round, for the majority of her best races have been run on left-handed courses. She is on the small side, and a bit of weight seems to stop her over a distance. A PROMISING HACK. One of the most promising hacks seen out for some time is Adeline, trained by F. Tutchen at Te Rapa. She had her first start at the Matamata meeting recently and ran third. Her next appearance was in the Hot Springs Handicap, six furlongs, at Rotorua, on Saturday. She began quickly and was iu front practically all the way, winning comfortably at the finish. She is a sturdily-built filly with an excellent constitution, and is one likely to improve considerably, judging by lier recent efforts. THREE ON END. Chief Cook, by annexing a double at Rotorua, has now made his winning record three on end, his previous success being at Matamata. The fields opposed to him at Rotorua were not strong, but he ■ carried substantial imposts on each occasion and beat the opposition in hollow style, horse is now right back to-his best form and he is likely to be seen to advantage again before long. tie is engaged in a mile event on the first day at l'e Aroha, and the distance will not trouble him as ho lias shown up well over a mile and a quarter. A DUAL WINNER. Beryl Latour put up two first-rate Performances when she accounted for the chief event each day at the Rotorua meeting.' In the Cup on Saturday she led all the way, running out the mile and a quarter in solid fashion, while with 91b more yesterday she repeated the performance in the President's Handicap run over a mile. She is a full sister to Awaicic, who won among other races the Auckland Railway Handicap. Beryl Latour has won several minor events this season, and has always given promise of staying on in her races. This mare has never looked better than she does at present, and she should add further to her winning record before the season is much further advanced.) Beryl Latour, who at one time was trained at Te Awamutu, is now under G. Johnston at Marton. She is engaged in the Te Aroha Cup. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. J.E.W.
