"DOUBLE HEADERS."

GAMBLING AIDS SEIZED,

MAX SENT TO PRISON. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Seven packs of cards, six two-up kips, a crown and anchor board, and a number of double-headed pennies were exhibits at the Police Court this morning, when Sydney Brown was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, and with obtaining credit by fraud. Accused gave the proprietress of a boardingliouse a wrong name,- and cleared out without paying. When accused was found by the police, the gambling paraphernalia was discovered, indicating, it was stated, his method of living.

Accused said he had no intention to defraud, but thought the easiest way out was to leave and to send the money later.

The Bench considered that possession of double-headed pennies was evidence of not even straight gambling with friends. Brown was sent to gaol for six weeks.
