Earthquake Death Roll Reaches Nearly Ten Thousand.

.United P.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 12 noon.) CALCUTTA, January 30. It is officially stated that at least 3000 persons were killed in the recent earthquake in Nepal. In the towns of Khatmandu, Patau and Bhatgaon hundreds are believed to be still buried.
The Maharajah's palace at Khatmaudu is in ruins. The King's two daughters were killed, also five other members of the Ncpalesc Royal Family.
Nearly all the soldiers and policemen lost their relatives, but they remained staunch on duty, and looting was suppressed. No Europeans were injured.
The Government of Bihar, in a communique, states that the death roll in the recent earthquake was estimated at 0041, as follows: —lluzaffarpore, 1929; Monghyr, 1318; Darbhanga, 1887; Patna, 139; Chaniparan, 435; Saran, 170; Bhagalpur, 111; Gaya, 34; Shahabad, 1G; Purnea, 2. Gaya Prasad Singh, a member of the Assembly, has given notice to move that the Government of India raise a loan of £1,500,000 to assist in the reconstruction of the province. Sycd Abdul Asiti, Minister of Education in Bihar, estimates, however, that close on £4,000,000 will have to be spent over two years to rebuild Bihar's economic life. Seven large sugar-cane factories were destroyed, and the Government is faced with tho problem of the disposal of last year's sugar crop.
