CATCHES OFF MAYOR ISLAND, t

TAURANGA, this day. | A party of Matamata residents, Messrs. Karl Johnston, S. A. Blue, J. E. Cummings and D. N. Hay, visited Mayor Island during the week-end in the launch Naomi and enjoyed good sport. On Saturday Mr. Johnston landed a 2211b swordfish, which fought for an hour and a half, giving a fine display. Four- other swordfish were hooked but broke clear, while about 10 others were »cen. ' .'•"' Dr. Stenhouse, of Katikati, fishing from his launch Dawn, captured four •wordfish last week off Mayor Island, the largest weighing 3601b. One of the fish put up a great fight and towed the launch about seven miles before it was killed. The catch made by Dr. Stenhouse is the best so far recorded In New Zealand this season. . .
