MILK COUNCIL,

CITY REPRESENTATIVES. NOMINEES ELECTED. The City Cotmcil last night elected three nominees for appointment as its official representatives on the first Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council. The names to be submitted to the Minister of Industries and Commerce are those of the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, and Messrs. H. P. Burton and S. Takle. There were five nominations, the candidates unsuccessful in the ballot being Messrs. A. Rosser and B. Martin. The Mayor declined to accept an amendment, moved by Mr. L. Coakley, after nominations had that no sitting member of the council should become a member of the milk council. "I have been against the milk proposal from the etart, and I think it would be better if sitting councillors were not chosen," declared °Mr. Coakley. Following the Mayor's ruling Mr. Coakley asked if he could "record his vote against the milk business altogether." The Mayor: I cannot accept that. You have at least been able to intimate your opinion to the council. _ Two representatives on the Milk Council were nominated at a special meeting of the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies Association last evening. The voting placed Mr. I. J. Goldetinc, president of the association, at the top of the poll, with Messrs. S. Donaldson, C. M. McCullough and H. F. W. Mcikle equal for second place. In the final count Mr. Meikle secured nomination.
