TAKAPUNA CLUB.

THE SUMMER MEETING. PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW recent form reviewed. The Takapuna Jockey Club's summer meeting will open at North Shore tomorrow and conclude on Monday next. The fields are up to the usual standard, and if the weather conditions are favourable the club should have a successful meeting. The course is in excellent order and some first-class racing should be witnessed. The Opening Event. The meeting will open, with the Trial Stakes, for which fifteen candidates are paid up for, with Killadar at the head of the list. This novice displayed promising form at the Waikato spring meeting, being in the money in each start against better fields than he will be meeting to-morrow. He is sure to run a good race. Brown .bap ran second to Alpinus at Whangarei, and that form entitles him to respect. Morehu ran a good race at Pukekohe last Saturday and should show up again. Teddy s Boy has two seconds to his credit and is a likely improver. Horowhenua also ran a fair race at Pukekohe and has been galloping well since then. Echo Song, Solo Song, Diversion and Laudatory also appeal, bu the favourite selections may be KILLADAR TEDDY'S BOY HOROWHENUA.

The High-weight. With the solid impost of 11.8 in the Orewa High-weight, Thespis will need to be at his best to win, though his second to Whakapara in the Kawakawa Cup was a good performance. If he runs up to it to-morrow he should be in the money. Alpinus rarely runs a bad race, and his third to Jonathan and Dollar Prince at Ellerslie last month will warrant him getting support. United, a winner at the recent Auckland meeting, has been galloping attractively at Ellerslie and is sure to run a solid race. Courtliaven. who won on this course in November, will also be m demand. Black Marlin looks the.pick of the others. The public are likely to prefer UNITED alpinus THESPIS.

Ferry Handicap. Limbohm, top-weight in the dicap, ran third in the Kelburn Handicap at Trentham on Wednesday, and if started in this event he should put up a creditable showing. Glenrata looks improved after his race at Pukekohe and has worked well since then. This also applies to Imamint, ■who may blio-w to better advantage to morrow. Gold Pocket won convincingly over a similar distance at the same meeting and should be one of the hardest to beat. Roman Mascot's recent form has been consistent and she will not be neglected, having won previously on this course. Solomon and Hawthorn should also show up, especially the former. The bulk of the money may come for GOLD POCKET ROMAN MASCOT > LIMBOHM.

The Cup. ] The Takapuna Cup, the chief event of j the day, should provide a keen contest, as the field includes several recent Master Brferly heads the list with .8.8, which is 41b more than he carried into second place in the Grandstand Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Ellerslie last month. He has not started since, but has done a solid preparation and is a lit horse. The distance will suit him and his prospects look excellent. Speedmint s form this season has been consistent and a good, effort can be expected of her if started. Master Norval won the Alison Cup at the last meeting, but has failed to show up lately. He may do better _ to-morrow. Baroscope has also failed to win since the spring and Mungatoon should hold him safe. Royal Artist, if back to his best, would be dangerous, but has no recent form to his credit. Alloy's Thames fom mU warrant him getting support, and Whakapara is also a possibility, though the dis tance may trouble him. Eager Rose and Gay Marigold are also entitled to respect. The favourites are likely to be, m tiie absence of Speedmint, MASTER BRIERLY MUNGATOON. MASTER NORVAL. Calliope Handicap. Several speedy two-year-olds are engaged in the Calliope Handicap, including the consistent Royal Appellant and.Sirona, and this pair are likely to be m most demand. High Crest will also have to be considered if started, as she has oeen in the money on two previous occasions. Oay Athlone, Lady Burleigh and Kelly read bffit of the remainder. .The favourite division should include _ ROYAL APPELLANT SIRONA GAY ATHLONE.

Wynyard Plate. The field set down to contest the Wynyard Plate includes several wellperformed hacks and tlie race is sure o. provide a sterling contest. Bouglial won decisively over this distance at Ellerslie last month, hut failed at Pukekohe, his only start since then. He may do much better to-morrow. King Musk also failed to get in the money at Pukekohe, but his spring form was good and he looks an improved horse after Ins race last week. Star Artist is a brilliant filly* and lier earlier form will ensure her getting-©olid backing. She is sure to be in the Picture at the finish. Cherry King lias a later engagement, but if started, m this race will have to be considered. Solomon who is encased earlier in the day, and Felagia may also get support. Calient* and Gay Broney also have some good form to their credit and have previously shown their ability to run out a mile in soiiu style. Jewelled Girdle's latest track work has been encouraging and he is hkely to be in the money. Wee Musk should account for the others.
