OBITUARY.

MRS. G. W. LOCHORE. The death occurred at Takapuna yesterday of Mrs. Loehore, wife of the late Rev. G. W. Loehore, a Presbyterian minister, whose last charge was at Whangarei. Mrs. Loehore, who was 51, had been a resident of Takapuna for the last four years. Mr. Loehore died in 1929.

MISS M. J. STEWART.

A former matron of Thames Hospital for over 20 years, Miss Matilda Jane Stewart, died on January 23, at her home in Calliope Road, Devonport. The interment to-day, at Purewa Cemetery, was private. Miss Stewart was born in Ireland 82 years ago. She came to Auckland as a young woman, and was trained as a nurse at the Auckland Hospital during the period that the late Dr. Mackellar was chairman of the honorary medical board. She was appointed to Thames Hospital about 1599. Her sister, Miss C. Stewart, was at one time matron of Gisborne Hospital.

MR. JAMES S. LENNOX,

A former resident of Remuera, Mr. James Scott Lennox, died at Palmerston North on January 24, aged 5". He wa* the eldest son of the late Sir. J. M. Lennox, of Remuera, who for many years was chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange. Mr. J. S. Lennox, after leaving school, joined the staff of the Colonial Bank, and later went t • the Bank of New Zealand. At tlio time of the mining boom he started a* a sharebrokcr in Auckland. Mr. Lennox some years later gave up sharebroking but lived in Auckland until twelve months ago, when lie took up a position at Palmerston North. He recently suffered an injury to his arm, and blood poisoning set in and caused liis death in a private hospital. Mr. Lennox is survived by his widow and one daughter. Miss Nancy Lennox.

MAJOR F. R. BATCHELOR.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MASTERTON, this day. The manager of Whatman Home Major F. R. Batchelor, of the Salvation Army, died at Masterton. He had been in charge of the home since its foundation eight years ago.
