BIG DAM BURSTS.
Walvis Bay Turned Into Vast Lake. FARMERS FLOWN TO SAFETY. (Received 10 a.m.) CAPETOWN, January 24. Walvis Bay dam has burst, turning the town into a vast lake. Swakopmund is also isolated, and tugs are bringing foodstuffs to the town. The Windhoek dam showed big gaps, and labourers worked day and night and constructed a sandbag wall.
Aeroplanes ire conveying outlying fanners in the danger areas to the north, to territory that i* safe.
