WASHINGTON, January 19.
About 4,000,000 employees under the Civil Works Administration must be dropped from the payrolls soon unless Congress appropriates an additional 350,000,000 dollars, officials announced to-day.
The present plan is to drop 1,000,000 a fortnight, starting on February 15. In order to reduce expenses immediately, the working week has been reduced from 30 to 24 hours, with correspondingly less pay.
The Administration has supplied the bulk of the re-employn\ent for the N.R.A. recovery programme. It had been hoped to continue it in opei'ation until May 1.
