KIDNAP GANG.

VICTIM'S FATE.

BLOODSTAINS FOUND.

Family Fears U.S. Banker Is Dead. HUGE RANSOM DEMANDED. (United r.A.—Elcctric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 1.30 p.m.) ST. PAUL (Minn.), January 19. Numerous bloodstains were found in the automobile of Mr. Edward Bremer (36), banker, and son of a wealthy family here, who controls brewing interests and who was kidnapped and held for 200,000 dollars' ransom under penalty of death.

This is causing the family much fear that the kidnappers have already killed or seriously wounded him. At the elder Bremer's request the police are remaining out of the case and will not interfere.

Private negotiations with the kidnappers are being carried out with newspaper notices. The father is ready and anxious to pay 200,000 dollars for the return of his son.

A special detail of Federal agents arrived from Washington, however, to conduct an investigation.

Walls Scaled Under Fire in

Kansas Prison. A DESPERATE "BREAK." (Received 2 p.m.) LANSING (Ivan.), January 10,

Seven convicts from the Kansas State penitentiary made a desperate and successful "break" for liberty to-day.

They then disappeared in the nearby woodland. Officers are making a wide search.

Two of the escaped convicts participated in the sensational Memorial Day gaol "break" on May 30 last year, when 10 prisoners made a daring escape from tli3 same prison, using three women, wives of gaol officials, as shields to rniard them from gunfire. In the subsequent pursuit across the countryside, several of the convicts were killed, these two being captured and returned.
