BOXING.
PARKER BEATS LISTER. (By Telegraph.—rrcss Association.) TIMARU, this day. In the best professional boxing contest seen in Timaru for a long time, Eddie Parker, of Timaru, last night beat Harry Lister, of Grey mouth, on points, over 15 rounds: Parker, who fought with great confidence, oufcboxed and outgeneralled his opponent. Lister resorted to showmanship, earning the displeasure of the crowd, and his tactics of poking out his chin cost him punishment several times. Parker received an ovation for his fine display. MIZLER AND GRANT SCORE. LONDON, January 1!). In a 15-round boxing contest in the Albert Hall for the British lightweight championship Harry Mizler (London) defeated the holder, Johnny Cuthbert, on points. Jack Grant (London) defeated Desmond Jeans in six rounds. The referee stopped the bout in the last round to save Jeans from further punishment.
