Realising that he is past his prime, "Babe" has accepted 35,000 dollars for the year, compared with 52,000 in 1933 and 75,000 the previous year. His highest annual mark was 80,000 dollars. .

He admitted that he would be pleased if he were able to participate in 100 games of the 150 odd in which the team will play.
