BOOK REVIEWS.

Two little volumes for the devotional life, juet published by the "Student Christian Movement Press" are "Through the Christian Year" and "Intercession." The former is a volume of old and. new poems, arranged by G. F. Bradby and J. W. Hunkin, and is intended for the different seasons of the Christian year. The authors selected include euch wellknown names as Robert Bridges, John Campbell Shairp and Swinburne, whilst there are poems from the pen of the compilers themselves. It is a volume many people will like to have at hand. "Intercession" is the work of several writers. It comprises ian introduction ami four chapters bearing.on intercessory prayer, and will be found helpful in the practice of the presence of God, not ohly for one's own sake, but, even more, for the sake of others. We have just been reading Dean Inge's reprint, in tasteful booklet form, of "The Story of Paula," his little daughter who passed away some years ago. The story.is feelingly.told, yet with delicacy and reserve, and is most touching. She seems to have been one of those beautiful souls, saintly and precocious, that too often are taken away by death's untimely frost.
