SQUABBLE AT ALTAR.
MINISTER REFUSES TO ACT. LONDON - , January 3. Because a bridal party quarrelled at the altar in a dispute as to who should be first bridesmaid, the clergyman, Rev. C. Baber, of St. Saviour's, Forest Hill, London, refused to proceed with the ceremony. The quarrel became so angry that it appeared as if blows would be. struck, and a policeman was sent for. The policeman restored peace, but the clergyman withdrew,-telling the-parents that it was impossible \ to give the Lord's blessing to such a marriage. They were later married by another clergyman, only the. bride and bridegroom and two witnesses being present.
