"The Times," stressing the value the Admiralty places on torpedo attack from the air, in tests concerning which a high measure of success has been achieved, says that 14 of the Blackburn-Baffin latest e type of torpedo bomber 'planes are being shipped to the Mediterranean for the aircraft-carrier Glox-ious to replace 'planes of the Ripon type. The new 'planes are sturdily built, enabling them to land on a deck. They possess a range of 450 miles. They have a speed of 136 miles an hour, and are able to dive from a height of several thousand feet until within 50 feet of the water and 500 yards from the target, when they launch torpedoes with the most deadly effect. The "Morning Post" says the Air Ministry is ordering 10 autogyros of the latest direct control type for full scale army tests, with regard to gun spotting, photography and short-distance takeoff and landing. , The speed of the latest autogyros is estimated at over 100 miles an hour at maximum, and between 12 and. 15 miles an hour at minimum. Under favourable conditions the landing o£ the machine is to all intents and purposes vertical, and the take-off is accomplished in the extremely short distance of five yards.
