TIME NOT RIPE?
ELECTRICITY IN NORTH. FARMERS' UNION OPINION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A resolution expressing the opinion that the time was inopportune for the raising of a large loan for the reticulation of the North under the North Auek= land Power Board's scheme was carried at the meeting of the Whangarei subprovincial executive of the Farmers' Union yesterday. The resolution read as follows:— "That this sub-provincial of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, whilst fully appreciative of the wonderful convenience of electricity on farms and in houses, considers that the present time is inopportune to load the community with a further heavy capital liability for reticulation and installation, in view of the difficulty which confronts the farmer in meeting his liabilities on to-day's price levels; we therefore oppose the proposal to raise a large loan for this purpose in the immediate future."
