ROWING.

ROTORUA KEGATTA. CLOSE RACING EXPECTED. To-morrow rowing enthusiasts throughout the Auckland Province will have thoughts centred on the Kotorua rejratta, to be held mi the lake at Ohinemutu. The provincial championship titles will be at stake and the racing under the control of the Auckland Rowing Association. In addition to all the best crews of the province, the Wangnnui Association is also represented by both the Aramoho ami Wanganiii Union Clubs. It is interesting to note that in the senior fours the three crews that fought out the New Zealand championship fours title at Wanganui last year—Auckland (holders), Aramoho and Haniilten—will meet again with exactly the same crews and a hard battle is promised over the two-mile journey. The result cannot be taken as n criterion for the New Zealand title this year, as there is yet plenty of time for a big improvement to be made in the crews before the national titles are decided. Another keen nice will be the junior fours and it looks as if Hamilton and Aramoho will have a battle rojal. In the single sculls R. B. Smith, ex-champion, and A. G. K. Jackson, present champion, meet. The big ■ field of eleven crews figure in the maiden fours open, and us this carries the Do war Shield, no time will be wasted on the journey. Ton crews contest the light maiden fours. In which are some hot combinations The pairs and double's in both the maiden and junior classes lenve plenty of room for speculation and the occasion, with such a large number of tine crews, offers the general public a rare opportunity of witnessing some of the finest racing seen in the province for a long time. If weather and water conditions are favourable, the programme will finish nt ?>.:JO p.m. In the evening a swimming sports meeting takes place at which Now Zealand and provincial champions v.ill be seen In action.
