Cricket 13at lightened up on the Auckland trip and lias done only easy work since lm returned. Ho will be a starter in the , Wellington Cup and A. E. Lllis will ride him. Rocket did six furlongs this morning without being extended. So far no rider has been engaged lor him in the Wellington Cup. Miner val hud his first sprint this morning since he returned from Auckland, lie is likely to be well fancied for the Wellington Cup, in which a good North Island rider may be his pilot. Lady Zephyr is shaping well in her work and may show up in her Treiithum engagements. A. S. Ellis will ride her in the high-weight on the first day, and A. Messervy in the Douro Cup. Crunford looks in great order and will have to be considered in sprint races at Trenthani. His stable mate Sweet Agnes is very well, but it is not decided yet if she will be a starter in the Wellington Cup. Highbrow and Final Shot, who raced well at the southern meetings during the holidays, are both galloping in great style and may be seen to advantage, at Trenthain. Highbrow will be ridden by. A. H. Eastwood. A. McAulay's Trentham team may compi'ise only Southdown, True Shaft, Night Guard and Water Polo. His other two, Haere Tqnu and Variant, are doubtful. Errantry ,has not done much since he came back from the West Coast, where his race programme was interfered with through soreness. 11 is uncertain if he is going to Trentham. Silver Streak did only easy work this morning. He looks well for Trentham, where L. J. Ellis will again ride him. A. H. Eastwood is considering the idea of removing from Riccarton to make Palmerston North his headquarters. He will come to a definite decision before the end of this month. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.
