SPEEDBOAT RACING.

I . OPEN ENTRY FOR N.Z. TITLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. At a meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association last night the question of the New Zealand 6peed boat championship contest being open to any member of a club affiliated to the NewZealand Yachting Council through its provincial association was discussed. Most of the delegates took strong exception to the Canterbury Association s remit to the yachting conference in this direction, maintaining that the Otago Association should have power to decide if a provincial boat was of sufficient power and speed to warrant it being allowed to compete. Several delegates maintained that, if an association supported and collected funds to send yachting crews away, it should support speed boat challenges, and that the challenging boat should be selected by the association. After a long discussion it was decided to support the Canterbury Association's remit that the speed boat championship be an open one, two delegates dissenting.
