MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB. H. DWIGHT WINS HOUSE CUP. Last evening, at the concrete banked track at the Western Springs Stadium, the Mamikau Amateur Cycling Club conducted the annual five miles race for the House Cup, and an open two miles handicap. Good fast racing and close finishes resulted, but the fields were small. The two miles attracted 13 starters, and resulted:—E. E. F. Tucker (Mamikau), 260 yds, 1; C. W. Allan (Papatoetoe), 75yds, 2; A. G. Patrick (Auckland), 35yds, 3; R. McC. Linn (Auckland), 300 yds. 4. Tucker shot ahead at the bell and gained a big break which Allan and Patrick were unable to close. Tucker won by two lengths, with a wheel separating the next two finishers. The time was 4.24 2-5. Only eleven contested the five miles race for the House Cup. The scratch trio were H. It. Dwight, R. G. Foubister and L. 11. Dwight, who conceded starts up to 480 yards. By lapping along together the scratch men were able to be with the leaders with three laps to go, after which the result was never in doubt. H. Dwight and Foubister fought out the last lap at a strenuous pace, and when the finishing straight was reached Dwight forged ahead to win by three lengths. The result was : , ( Bcr >. 1 ; K- G. Entries for the championship carnival, to be held at the Western Springs Stadium (rack next Wednesday evening, are even larger than was anticipated. Sixty-six cyclists have entered for the eight events provided. The one mile open handicap ho.s attracted a field of 35, the two-iniler 33, and the half-mile handicap 20 riders. The sprint and unpaced kilometre championship events Jiave attracted eight entries each, mid the five miles championship, which carries lap prizes, has drawn 15 entries. hair entries have also been received for the runuing events, which will be under the auspices of the Technical Old Boys' Amateur Athletic Club.
