"SILLY STATEMENT."
REJOINDER MADE BY EARL.
LONDON, January 4.
"I feel certain that a reputable West End tailor would never make such a silly statement. Mine certainly would not," said the Earl of Westmorland, when an "Evening News" representative informed him of the reference to himself as best-dressed man. He added: "It • is an unwarranted and unsought honour. Any credit belongs to my tailor. I merely try to fit the clothes to the occasion."
The "Evening News" says that countries less addicted to statistics might have trembled to make such a list, but New York has become more dress conscious since it wired its trousers creases, and achieved masculine shoulders with the aid of a basketwork frame.
