MORE POOR "JOKES."
NEW YEAR'S EVE DAMAGE.
PLANKS TORN FROM BRIDGE.
(By Telegraph.—Owu Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Report* are coining in from outlying districts .of New .Year's Eve "jokes" similar to those perpetrated on the Whangarei-Kaikohe Road and at Kerikeri. The latest reports are from Tautoro and Taheke, where obstructions were placed on the roads. At Taheke cream stands and letter boxes were wrecked, and many gates were taken off their hinges. A serious aspect was the pulling up of planks forming the decking of a bridge. These were thrown into the river. The police have the matter ■in hand.
