RECORD STAND WITH KIPRAX. VICTORIA BEATS S. AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, January 2. 11l the Sheffield Shield cricket match Queensland versus Hew South Wales today, the local eleven in their lirst innings made 014 for six wickets and declared (Bradnian 253, Kippax 125, Chipperlield 84, McGillvray not out 34). Oxenham took three wickets for 110 and Brew two for 170.

Queensland (which had made 372 in the first innings) had scored 70 for four wickets to-day when stumps were drawn.

To-day's play resulted in a regular orgy of run-getting and a dashing innings by Bradnian, who hit a six in four successive overs, Fours were a common occurrence, 29 of which he recorded. Oxenham. was the only bowler to quieten him.

• The Bradman-Kippax partnership of 363 is the greatest third-wicket stand made by any Australian pair. Their runs were scored in 172 minutes.

In the match at Melbourne between South Australia and Victoria the Victorians in their second innings made 140 for five wickets (Ponsford 27, Kigg 50). Grimmett took four wickets for 52.

Victoria, captained by Ponsford owing to Woodfull's indisposition, won by live wickets.

GOOD BOWLING EFFORT. Tlie Morrinsville Cricket Club secured a win over a team from Hamilton in a holiday game played at Morrinsville on New Year's Day. Morrinsville scored 177 (Faulkner 80, not out, ltussell and 91 (Scott IS, Walton 10, Faulkner 15 not out) ; to which the visitors replied -with 100 (Owsley 40, Martin 20), and U'J. Bowling for Morrinsville C. H. McIntyre took eight wickets in the visiting team's second innings.
