A QUIET THIRD DAY. MORRISON DOWN TO DYMOND. MARJORIE MACFARLANE WINS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The third day of the New Zealand tennis tournament at Wilding Park was confined mostly to the combined doubles and ladies' singles matches, without any unexpected results or reversals of form. It was a misfortune that, owing to an injury to the left'wrist received at Timaru, Miss D. Dingle, of Australia, had to retire after playing two sets in her second round singles match against Miss Sherris, of Canterbury- Later in the day Miss Dingle, after receiving treatment, was able to take part in two doubles matches without great discomfort. Miss L. Bickerton, the leading Australian lady player, looks certain to contest the ladies' singles final. In the three rounds to date she has lost only four games. Her nest match is against Miss N. Hall, another Australian. The best men's singles match of the day was the third round event between H. Dymond, the Canterbury player, and M. Morrison, of Auckland. A long fiveset struggle ended in a victory for Dymond, who had more accuracy at the net. Dymond, with two hard fights behind him, has now to meet E. D. Andrews, the title-holder, in the fourth round. Andrews will require to be on the alert and prepared to move about at top speed. Later results to-day were:— Men's Singles. Third Round.-—H. Dymond (Canterbury) beat M. Poole (Canterbury), 6—3, 6—l; Miss Marjorie Maefarlane (Auckland) beat Mrs. W. J. Melody (Wellington), 6—2, 6—2; Miss T. Poole '(Canterbury) beat Miss M. Sherris. 7 —5, 6 —l; Miss L.
