HORSES INJURED.
Gay Sheila was lame after competing in | the Great Northern Deityy, . and it was I found that she had an injury to one of Jier legs just above the coronet, but it is anticipated that she will bo all right in a few days. Whenuakura broke down in the Royal Stakes yesterday, and will not race again for the remainder of the season. This is very bad luck for his owner, Mr. W. Kirkland, and it is to be hoped that his spell will restore the youngster, for there is no doubt Whenuakura is a brilliant galloper. Billy Boy, while contesting the Auckland Hurdle Race at Ellerslie yesterday, received an injury to his bejel, and on examination by Dr. King, it was found the bone below one of his eyes had been cracked. It is thought that this was caused by one of the .heels of Free Air when that horse fell in front of him.
