POLICE RAIDS.
THREE ARRESTS MADE TO-DAY ILLEGAL GAMIXG ALLEGED. Simultaneous police raids on premises in the city were carried, out by detectives this morning and three men were arrested on gaming charges. The arrested men were; William Thomas Osmond, aged 33, tobacconist, of Hobson Street; Jack Johnson, 52, shopkeeper, of 82, Victoria Street; and Gordon Beach, 20, tobacconist, of 03, Pitt Street. The three men were charged with keeping premises as common gaming houses. They appeared before Mr. A. J. Stratford, J.P., were bailed, and remanded to appear in the Police Court to-morrow morning. The raids were carried out at 11.30. Detective-Sergeant O'Sullivan and Constable Graham arrested Osmond, Detectives Brady, Maliood, and Vial raided Johnson's shop, and Detectives Moore and Stevenson arrested Reach. Two other men, Percival llenry Jackson and George Henry Brooks, found on one of the premises, were also arrested and charged with being found on premises used as a common gaming house. They were also bailed and remanded.
