MOUNT EDEN PRISON.
CHRISTMAS DAY GIFTS. Through the efforts of the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society there were gifts of flowers and cigarettes for the prisoners at Mount Eden yesterday, and, more important etill, the midday meal was a typical Christmas one. The prison chaplain, the Rev. George F. Moreton, held a service in the morning, and the afternoon was "make and mend," as they say in the Navy, with opportunity for conversation and reminiscence. That the work of the association is appreciated is shown by a communication which came through the post to the prison padre. It was signed "An Old Boy," and the writer enclosed 5/, and praised the work done Dor discharged prisoners.
