KEPT WAITING FOR TOYS,
;United P.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 10.00 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Breaking through a police cordon 12,000 screaming children rushed wildly in a frantic quest for toys at a* big Christmas party on the Sydney Show Ground to-day. Police and officials made strenuous efforts to restore order, but without avail, the children being out of hand. Boys and girls grabbed toys of every description from stalls and from one another. Hundreds of mothers who had not been admitted tried to force their way into the grounds. Large numbers of children were lost, and finally those who had not been identified were paraded in front of mothers. Scores of children suffered minor injuries. The stampede is believed to be due to the children being kept standing waiting too long for their liking before the distribution of toys was made.
