HIGH PRICES PAID.
EMPIRE STAMP COLLECTION. (Received 1,2 noon.) LONDON, December 1. A sum of £35,000 was paid for a collection of British Empire stamps belonging to Mr. H. P. Manus, an Amsterdam tobacco merchant, who died in 1931, aged 80, He had collected for 70 years. Mauritius varieties realised £4000, and early Australian brought high prices. Mr. Manus originally scoured the world, resulting in a collection that was so bulky, that he later confined it to the Empire covering the last 30 years.
