DEATH SENTENCES.

TWO MURDER CAgES. AWAITING CONSIDERATION. EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TO MEET (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. For the first time in recent history the Executive Council of New Zealand has awaiting its consideration the question of confirming sentences of death in two murder cases. In the past there lias never been more than one case at any one time. At Monday's meeting of .the council, over which the Governor-General, Lord Bledi.sloe, will preside, consideration will probably be given to the case of John Hubert Edwards, aged 41, who was convicted at Auckland on November 2 on a charge of murder. It is not likely that the case of George Edward Jamefi, aged 57, who was convicted of murder at Wellington, will be considered until the following week. Xo sentence of death can be carried out in the Dominion unless it is confirmed by the Executive Council.
