RESULT OF LOWER FARES.
MR. STERLING'S STATEMENT.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The chairman of the Railways Board, Mr. H. H. Sterling, speaking at the conference rff the Associated Chambers of Commerce, anticipated the annual report of the board, to be released at the end of the week, saying that the number of passenger tickets issued in the past yearshowed an increase of 347,000.'N0t only had the board's experiment shown an improved financial - position, but better service to the public had been provided.
