FARM MYSTERY.
NO TRACE OF LAKEY.
TESTS FOR BLOODSTAINS.
liABORIOITS WORK.
(By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") HUNTLY, this day.
Tbe body of Mr. Samuel Pender Lakey, the Ruawaro farmer, who mysteriously disappeared 11 days ago almost simultaneously with the discovery of Mrs. Cliristobel Lakey's body in a duck-pond near their farmhouse, has not been found. Detectives have so far been unable to establish the cause of Mrs. Lakey's death or explain the strange disappearance of her husband. They are still working on the double murder theory. Although the discovery of Mr. Lakey's body is essential to their case, much depends 011 the results of tests for blood at present being -carried out at the Auckland Hospital.- Tlio testing of various exhibits takes a considerable time. Unimportant as a small. blood stain may appear among a number ~of larger stains, the determination of. its origin may have great significance. When searching for blood stains, attention is directed not only to clothing and weapons, but fingernails, boots and the linings of pockets. The method of removing blood stains for testing purposes that would probably occur to most people would be to rub the place with a small swab of cotton wool, but if that were done the subsequent tests would be very difficult. Superintendent S. Till, in charge of the Auckland district, arrived in Huntly by car from Auckland this morning;. He was expected to visit Ruawaro this afternoon and confer with Chief Detective Sweeney and Detectives T., Snedden, T. A. Allsopp and J. Findlay.
This morning six additional constables were sent from Auckland to assist the police now at Ruawaro in searching for the body of Mr. Lakcy.
