Dr. G. E. O. Fenwick returned from South by the Limited this morning. Mr. R. Glover Clark returned from South by the Limited this morning. Mr. C. E. Begg lias been appointed general manager of Charles Begg and Co., Ltd. Mr. W. W. Meek, of Auckland, leaves for Wellington by the Limited this evening. Mr. R. A. Reddell, health specialist, of Christcliurch, has been appointed to a position in the National Health Institute in Buckingham, England. Mr. C. R. Smith, former manager of the Majestic Theatre, has left for Wellington to take up his new duties with the Fuller-Hayward organisation. Mr. W. G. de Grucliy, the Sydney director of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, arrived in Wellington by the Wanganella on a business visit. Commander R. Ramsbotham, formerly in command of H.M.s. Laburnum, accompanied by Mrs. Ramsbotham, Ifft by the Remuera to : day on his return to England. Mr. Warwick Gregory, New Zealand manager for the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, returned with Mrs. Gregory to Wellington this week from an expended business and pleasure trip to England. Lieutenant E. W. J. Bankes arrived in Wellington by the Rangitiki from England on Tuesday. He will relieve Lieutenant K. M. Walter as signal officer in H.M.s. Dunedin, and the latter will return to England. Mr. W. L. Wilson, superintendent of the Auckland Fire Brigade, left for Rotorua this morning for a month's holiday. During his absence his duties will be carried on by the deputy-superin-tendent, Mr. A. G. Avenall. Mr. L. J. Bayfield, manager of the Government Tourist Department at Rotorua, arrived in Auckland yesterday afternoon, accompanied by Mrs. Bayfield. They leave by the express this afternoon for Wellington. The Rev. W. C. Wood, the Manukau County representative on the Hospital Board, who has been in hospital for two ■\veeks, was able to return to his home at Papakura yesterday, and after two weeks' rest hopes to take up his activities again. Mr. G. Mills, Mayor of Birkenhead, leaves for Wellington this evening to attend to business in connection with the insertion of an empowering clause in the Local Legislation Bill in order that Birkenhead may enter into a water supply contract. Mr. P. Everett, of Gisborne, has secured a national certificate in fruit culture, awarded by the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. He is the first person in the Dominion to earn the certificate, which is the highest award in fruit culture in the Dominion. Mr. W. T. Ray, a representative of the Blue Star Shipping Line, has arrived in Wellington from London to complete the arrangements made in London between his company and the meat and dairy boards of the Dominion regarding the shipping of produce to Great Britain.
