FALSE PRETENCE CHARGE.
A young man, Frederick Wilton McClennan, appeared in the Police Court this morning, when he was remanded until November 2 on a charge of false pretences. The charge against McClennan was that on February 4 he obtained from J. R. Auger £5 by falsely representing that he was the editor of the "Liberal" newspaper and that he would employ Auger if he paid £5 for shares in the paper. »
