Fire broke out in the furniture factory owned by Mr. A. Parkinson at the corner of Ponsonby Road and Brown Street last evening. Engines from tbo city and western districts stations quickly suppressed the flames, which had reached the gable of the two-storey building when they arrived. Part of .the walls were charred, but the machinery and furniture were only slightly damaged by water. There had been an outbreak of fire on the same premises within the past three months.
