MANUFACTURERS.
DOMINION CONFERENCE. AUCKLAND BODY'S FINANCES. Notwithstanding the depression, the financial position of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association is more satisfactory than for several years past, according to the report for the six months just past, to be presented at the annual meeting on November 6. Income exceeded expenditure by £345, and the accumulated funds have been increased by that sum and now total £4435. The executive said the period under review had been particularly busy, largely on account of the preparation .of evidence to be presented to the Tariff Commission. The Winter Exhibition also made demands on the time of the staff, but returns from the exhibition had been most successful, being almost double those of the previous year. The roll number of the association now stood at 292. The annual conference of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation is to be held at Wellington on November 16. This year it is proposed that in conjunction with the annual conference a conference of Dominion manufacturers shall be held on November 14 and 15, and the Auckland executive has agreed to send three additional representatives. The federation is also inviting the various subsidiary associations to send representatives, and extends a general invitation to all manufacturers. This conference will be one of the most important in the history of the federation, chief of the matters to be discussed being the;) tariff situation and the reorganisation of the federation.
