TAKANINI TRIALS.
TATYOON TRIED -OVER HURDLES. The middle grass track was open at Takanini this morning and the going was excellent. _ ~ Gold Pocket had the measure of Holly Lu at 4he end of six furlongs run in 1.17 3-s—a good effort. The Valkynan— Bellacity filly was not asked to do her best while running five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, the last two taking 265. Arch Ruler accounted for Imperial Prince at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.19 4-5, while High Crest completed her work with a brush down the straight. Toplight easily defeated Melbroney over half a mile in 49 3 : 55, while Rereatu registered the same time for a similar distance. . . Tatyoon (J. Burgess) was given a trial over a few pony hurdles and acquitted himself well for a novice. The Hiker' (Walters) and Thespis (Burgess) were companions in a round over four hurdles, the pair being- together throughout. Both hit the second fairly hard, but jumped the others in dashing 6tyle.
