WORK AT ELLERSLIE. GTJENTtOMItEY'S FOUR. P.OYAL APPELLANT ALSO PLEASES. No. 2 grass track was available for fast ■work at Ellerslie this morning, but as the majority of the horses had raced at Avondale, there was not a great deal of galloping. The tan, sand and two-year-old tracks ■were also open, and a number of horses did pace work on them. No. 2 Grass. Arohamai and Wee Musk opened proceedings by covering a round in 1.53 2-5, the last sis furlongs taking 1.26 1-5 and the final three furlongs 41 4-ss. They finished together and were not required to do their best. Courthaven was holding Zane Grev safely at the conclusion of sis furlongs run in 1.18 4-5. Courthaven did her work well and Zane Grey also shaped pleasingly. Mountain Breeze was not required to make time over six furlongs, averaging a shade better tl an 15s to the furlong. Prince Colossus reeled off three furlongs in 39 l-ss, hitting out very freely. The two-year-old Royal Appellant had Glenromney as a mate over half a mile, •which occupied 49 4-ss. Both horses were doing their work well at the end. Hawthorn strode over six furlongs in 1.26 2-5. Psychologist was given an easy five furlongs, which he covered in 1.8 1-5, the last three taking 40s. My Money and Gay Broney were given useful work, traversing their last half-mile in 56 2-ss. Lord Val was also worked over a round, but was not after time. Seven Seas and Tray Bit were on terms at the end of three furlongs run in 38 2-ss, and could have improved on this time. ' . Morehu was under restraint throughout six furlongs, which he traversed in 1.29. This filly ran a fair race at Avondale, and is on the improve. Baroscope worked steadily- over a round, traversing the last six furlongs in 1.26 2-5. He will fulfil his engagement at the Waikato Hunt meeting in which he will be ridden by E. Manson. Chief Clerk was also allotted an easy task, running home from the half-mile post m 56 2-ss. .. . _ , /Tr Wee Pat (Garrett) and Catoma (H. Dulieu) were companions over four schooling hurdles, which they negotiated safely. Catoma over-reached himself, but the injury was not serious. Other horses to do useful work were:— Red Sun (who is under W. Ryan s care during J. W. Lowe's absence at the Wellington meeting), Carfex, Teremai, Matorni, Karangapai, High Star, Mondorus, Jewelled Girdle. Solomon, Gay Marigold, King March, King Musk, Grand Tonic, Lady Gainsborough, Bright Flower, Red Flame, Kairuri, Patutahi, United, Chief Cook, Lady Diana, Barograph, Kiltowyn, Miss Rewa, Grant's Opal and DarrywelL
