SUDDEN COLLAPSE.

SEQUEL TO AN ACCIDENT. YOUNG MAN'S RECENT FALL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day.

The death occurred with tragic suddenness of Claude Nathaniel Dickey, who celebrated his 22nd birthday only a short time ago. Three weeks ago last Thursday he was taking advantage of his half holiday to fix the wireless at his parents' home. He had climbed down the pole and was standing on top of the supporting post at the foot putting on his sandshoes when he slipped. Hie socks were torn on the barbed wire running along the top of the fence and his feet became entangled. In falling, his head came in contact with the bottom of the post and the ground. Stunned by the impact, he hung suspended head downwards from the fence. How long he remained in that position is not known. His mother went to call him for afternoon tea and found him in a terrible predicament. When removed from the fence hie face' and the upper part of his body were quite blue. Medical men were called in, and for a week he was confined to his bed until a lump which had formed at the back of his head had been reduced. He returned to work for a couple of days, but relapsed and was again confined to bed.

On Saturday he appeared to be quite well, but when walking along the passage about 5.30 on Saturday evening he fell down in a state of collapse. He was rushed to the hospital in the St. John ambulance, but did not recover consciousness, and died, within half an hour of admission, the cause of death being cerebral hemorrhage.

He was an old High School boy and on the staff of R. Hosking, Ltd.
