FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS. CEREMONY OF LYING-IN-STATE (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Impressive ceremonies will mark the various stages of the funeral of Mr. Holland, -whose body will arrive in Wellington to-morrow morning. The funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon. at the Bolton Street Cemetery. His grave will be close to Mr. Seddon's.

The body will arrive at Thorndon station early to-morrow morning, and at 0.30 will be brought to Parliament Buildings, where it will lie in state in the main vestibule until Wednesday afternoon. On arrival at Parliament Buildings it will be given over to the relatives by representatives of the Maori race, with a native ceremony of .sorrow and grief. During the period' the body is lying in state the public will be permitted to pay their respects, and the casket will be guarded by a detachment from the permanent military forces.

Leaving Parliament Buildings at 2.30 on Wednesday, the funeral will go to St. Paul's pro-Cathedral, -when a memorial service will be held. Later it will be interred at Bolton Street Cemctevv.

In preparation for the reception of the body, the vestibule of the buildings has been draped in purple and black.

Mrs. Holland will arrive in Wellington from Westport to-morrow.

Arrangements have been made ' for "wreaths to be sent to Parliament Buildings.

The House of Representatives will meet at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow, and its sole business will be to place on record expressions of regret. The sitting will probably be Lunger than te customary in similar circumstances, for many members will wish to speak.

According to Maori Custom. The following message from Sir Apiraiia Xgata was to-day received by the Native Department, and it has been conveyed to the Labour party:— "Mr. Holland was paying his reepects to the late king, and his death while visiting the Maori people in the King Country has greatly affected the Maoris. In accordance with Maori custom tliey will bring the body to Wellington and hand it over to the relatives and friends. Accompanying the body to Wellington will be the Princess Te Puea and her husband, a brother of King Rata, and two male and two female representatives of the King Country Maoris. Natives in the King Country are much impressed by the sympathy shown by Mr. Holland for the relatives of Te Rata, and by the understanding he has shown for Maori aspirations."
