SOCCER PREMIERS.
Wallsend Win the Club
Championship.
Wallsend, by superior forward play and a better balanced combination, defeated St. George in the New- South Wales premiership Soccer final at the Sydney Cricket Ground on September 23 by 0 to nil.
Although St. George fought gamely and gave 110 quarter, they wore no match for the Wallsend eleven.
Wallsend had complete mastery of the game from the start. The nippiness of tile front line, combined with the solid defence of the back division, were too much for the slower and less adept Sydney men.
'J-he Wallsend forwards were quick to demonstrate their speed, and their placing and positional play was faultless. Quill proved an adept forager, and although the ball was served up to him he distributed it with accuracy and precision.
Barnctt and Pringle, on the 'wings, proved veritable speed merchants, and were always dangerous.
