Heavy Defeat of Comrades in
Tame Game.
Thistle concluded their senior competition programme 'this afternoon "when they mot Comrades at Blandford Park. The teams vere :— Comrades: Page, Cashin, White. Egan, Hooton, Kinnaird, Evans, Francis, Wright, Marvin, Skinner. Thistle: Gerrard, McCosh, Williams, Watson, Wright, Wiseman, Woods, Bunsmore, Williamson, J. Kean, Kay. Referee: Mr. B. F. Miller. Thistle attacked from the start and in three minutes, Williamson opened the scoring with a net drive from a centre b.y Woods. Comrades retaliated, hut were easily held though Gerrard was calied upon twice to save. The Scots gradually took the upper hand and Wright sent a long transference forward, which Williamson neatly trapped with his left foot and slammed hard and high into the net. Though Comrades' play showed enterprise and combination it cannot be said that they ever seriously troubled Thistle and it was no surprise when the Scots went three ahead. The score was taken by Williamson and was another really clever effort that gave l'age no chance to save. Some time later during a spell of pressure by Comrades, Marvin snapped in a fast Phot that Gerrard .made 110 attempt to stop and the score stood 3 —l. Near ill g the interval, again scored. Kinnaird badly miss-kicked and Williamson dashed in and shot. The ball bouneed off Page to (lie foot of Kay who had an easv task to score. Before the interval Wright scored a fifth goal with a long shot along the ground with Page unsighted. The opening of the second spell was very ,V'V"";, It was evident by the attitude of the ni l P la J'®r® t h; it they were not taking n'?i r^ mo degree of seriousness, and this was ilie feeling amongst the crowd there was one faint thrill when Comrades bustled through, and Wright, centre, scored, but Thistle evened this up by adding their M.\t,h goal, which came from a splendid \'\ nm K:ly ' Williamson had a childishly easy task to land the ball in the net. o—_.0 —_. Only occasional smart touches °y, Comrades -relieved the monotonv of In is tie s mastery, and Kay registered the seventh goal for Thistle with a characteristically sparkling solo effort, dashing i»i a hard ground shot that l'age mulled as it passed into the net. Kay also added the eighth goal for Thistle, while Skinner with a beautiful corner, made Ccurades' tally three. This was all the scoring, and a miserably poor contest ended :— Thistle g Comrades q
