Comfortable Victory at Expense

of Training College.

Grammar Old Boys gained a comfortable victory over Training College at the Domain this afternoon by 14 points to 3.

Grammar attacked from tlie outset, a sharp burst on tlie left flank by Finlayson taking play into Training College's quarter. However, College soon settled down, solid work by tlie blue and white vanguard causing Grammar some very anxious moments until Jlaciudoe found the line well downfield. College fanned out, Rowe securing from the loose and sending Dare away, the ball going to Townsend, who sent on to Reeves, but the lattor's pass went astray. Corner broke away in a solo effort that ended through lack of support. Gooch was injured and left the field. Scarborough taking his place. Reeves threw away a certain try when he elected to go through oil his own, when he had Townsend in support with the defence beaten. Jlcßeth, Scarborough and Brown were jirominent in a forward rush by Grammar, L.ewis repulsing the attack by finding touch. Securing in his own twenty-five Corner flashed through fast and sent out a long pass to Slyfield. the latter making a strong effort to penetrate the defence, but he was pushed out. Half-time came with the scores: Grammar 0 Training College 0 Potter went back to full-back upon the resumption, MacincToe going up to first five-eights. Grammar now began to infuse a lot of dash into their offensive and two successive attacks by the white backs appeared very likely, only bad play pulling up both movements. A great opening by Macindoe saw the white rearguard launch an Irresistible invasion, the ball going to Corner, to Slvfield. to I.endruni. who drew the field, and left Finlayson a clear run in. Grammar were row having much the better of proceedings, and were giving College a very hard time. A momentary attack by College saw the ball go dead.
