A Big Dividend.

Kapuna's Hurdle Success. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The racing opened with the biggest dividend paid at Wingatui for some years, Kapuna, winner of the hurdles, paying over half a century, Mem bo and Gold Knight were best fancied, but were well beaten by Kapuna, who took charge after passing the six-furlong post, with Gold Knight second. These two were together at the last hurdle, and in the run home Kapuna won comfortably by a good length and a half, with Mcmbo a similar distance away third. Then came Hystride and Polling Day.

First Success of Meeting. Sir Charles Clifford had his first win of the meeting with Falkland in the Kaikorai Handicap. The bracket, Flower and Shootist, was made a warm favourite, but neither was ever prominent. It was a well-run race, with Reminder making the pace for most ,of the way, with Donalda, Falkland and Blazon always prominent, Reminder and Donalda were first into the straight from Blazon and Falkland/' Donakla looked the winner at the distance, but in the run to the post Falkland, on the rails, got through to win by a length from Blazon, on the olitside, with Donalda a length away. Reminder and Worship were next. Winner Vigorously Ridden. The favourite, Silver Streak, was slow to jump out in the Shorts Handicap. Kerbside quickly took charge, and led to the straight, with Fair Weather, Mobile and Silver Streak handy. Kerbside dropped out at the distance, and Fair Weather looked the winner, but Mobile, vigorously ridden by Brodie, got up to beat hinj .by a head. Silver Streak was a short length away, third. Polydora Stays Too Well.

Guarantee lecl in the early stages oi the Ranfurly Handicap. After rounding the far turn Palantua moved up tc Guaiantee and Irish Lancer joined them at the turn for home, where Polydora ran into third place. In a good fir is!; Polydora stayed on to beat Irish Lancet by a length and a half, with Guarantee a length away. Three-year-old Classic. Dr. Louisson's The Masquerador had another good win. Jumping out quickly he led all the way in the Dunedin Guineas, and lasted long enough to score by a good half-length from Silvox, with the favourite, Fracas, third. Juvenile Event. In the Dominion Handicap Invoice jumped out and led al ltlie way, winning easily by three lengths. Queen of Song
