WHY LILACS FAIL TO FLOWER
Tho cause of lilacs failing to flower can often bo traced to suckers being allowed to take all the nourishment from parent plants. The majority of the new large-flowered and double-llowcred varieties are budded or grafted, consequently the stock i.-i of seedling or
inferior growth, and if suckers arc allowed to tako charge it is not long before tho scion has dwindled down until there is nothing left but the stock. Of courso this does not apply when the plants are grown from cuttings, but o\on then better results aro gained by removing all suckers and keeping .the plant to one main stem.
