LONDON, October 5. Following are to-day's quotations on the London metal market, compared with those of October 4: —

LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated 6th instant: —■ The wool sales showed good general competition. As compared with opening rates scoured Merino 5 per cent lower. Greasy Merinos best, fairly firm. Greasy Merino, other descriptions. 5 per ctnt to IVs per cent lower. Decline mostly pronounced 011 heavy wasty. Greasy crossbred, very firm, unchanged to 5 per cent lower. Slipe, 5 per cent to "V 2 per cent lower. The sales close on Octobcr 11. We will sell 011 Octobcr 11.
