Flock of Starters. —Waimate to Christchurch. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIMATE, this day. In' a blazing sun, making one of the hottest days of the season, 131 riders started on the 145-milo cycle road race to Christchurch from Waimate. The six limit men loft at 8.15 a.m., and the four scratch riders at 0.30 a.m. Non-starters among the entries were: — Pluck, Donaldson, Ellis, Metcalfe, Ling, McNitkel, MeCaw, Marks and Burgess.
