What is considered to be an important achievement in connection with the Government's campaign against kidnappers is that two convictions were secured Yesterday in two sensational eases. Seven defendants, including one woman and a notorious gunman, Harvey Bailey, were convicted and now face imprisonment for life for the kidnapping of Mr. Charles Urschell, a wealthy Oklahoma city petroleum magnate. A sum of about 75,000 dollars of the 200.000 dollars ransom which was paid has been recovered. Six members of a gang, including one woman, were also convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for life, in connection with the kidnapping of August Luer, an aged banker, at Edwardsville, Illinois.
