Mr. W. iT. Fletcher is leaving again for Napier by the Limited this evening. Mr. H. Temple White arrived by the Limited this morning from Wellington. Mr. M. if. Wynyard returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited. Mr. T. C. List has. returned from Whangarei and ie staying at Hotel Cargen. Dr. 11. L. .Tames and Mrs. .Tames returned by tho Monowai this morning from a two months' holiday to Fiji. Mr. F. C. T. Lord, inspector of the Colonial Sugar Company, is a through passenger by the Monowai for Sydney. Mr. Gordosn S. Reid, of Hamilton, arrived in England on August l(i and will remain there about four months. Hie chief object is to study architecture ■ —particularly the outstanding improvements that have, been made in the last thirteen yeare. Mr. A. S. Richards and Mr. A. Harris, M.IVs, who arrived from Wellington by tho express yesterday morning, will return by the Limited this evening, in company with other Auckland members, for whom a special sleeper will be run every Monday evening while the .session is in progress. Tho Rt. Rev.,C. A. Cherrington, Biehop of Waikato, was a visitor to Auckland at. the week-end, for the purpose of addressing members of the Student Christian Union at Auckland University Collego yesterday afternoon. He preached in tlie Church of the Holy Sepulchre last evening. Mr. Douglas Porter, of London, general secretary of tho Egypt General Mission, arrived in Auckland from the South to-day. Mr. Porter joined the field staff in Egypt in 190.3, and after many years of valuable service, was appointed to the position of secretary at London headquarters on the retirement of Mr. J. Gordon Logan. He is visiting the chief centres in the Dominion, speaking on behalf of the mission and its work.
