THREE INJURED.
MIDNIGHT SMASH.
CYCLISTS THROWN o!\i ROADWAY. CONDITION SEHIOUS. Two men and a boy were seriously injured in a collision between a motor cycle and a motor car at the corner of Great North Road and Tennyson Street, Arch Hill, shortly before midnight on Saturday. The injured are: — Frank Powley, aged 14, of 48, Dean Street, Arch Hill. Tom Griffin, aged 20, single, of 241, Great North Road, Grey Lynn. Mr. W. Gregory, 'middle-aged, of 24, Tennyson Street, Arch Hill. The condition of Powley and Griffin was reported this morning as still serious. Griflin was the rider of a motor cycle, and he had Powley with him on the pillion-seat. Mr. Gregory was the, driver of the motor car. 'When the collision happened Powley and Grillin somersaulted over the motor ear, and the force of the impact threw Mr. Gregory forward with such force that the windscreen was splintered. The motor cycle struck the side of the car near the front door, and the two riders crashed on the concrete roadway. Both were unconscious when picked up. Mr. Gregory was cut by broken glass. Exceptional difficulties were experienced by St. John Ambulance men who dressed the wounds of the injured before taking them to the Auckland Hospital. A crowd of spectators gathered, and in ■spite of frequent requests to keep back they continued to press forward and hinder the ambulance men as ■ they worked.
